MASTERCLASS BIT-LAB | PICK AND ROLL

Last updated: October 22, 2026

The two-man game that shapes the five-man game

The pick and roll is at the heart of modern basketball. Knowing how to read it, interpret it and execute it can make the difference at any level.

In this Masterclass we will analyze the pick and roll in depth: introduction to the pick and roll, principles and spacing, the pick and roll as a two-man action between ball handler and screener, the pick and roll as a team concept in 5-on-5 play, offensive reads against coverages such as drop, hedge and switch, timing, angles and screen usage, decision-making and creating offensive advantage.

The goal is to develop players who can read the game in real time and make effective decisions, becoming dangerous in every pick-and-roll situation.

This Masterclass is designed to explore one of the most important offensive tools in contemporary basketball. The pick and roll will not be treated as a simple technical collaboration, but as a complex situation in which spacing, timing, reads and communication between players determine the quality of the possession and the ability to create a real advantage.

The work will help athletes understand not only how to execute the pick and roll, but above all how to interpret it. We will analyze the role of the ball handler, the role of the screener, the responsibilities of teammates on the strong side and weak side, and how every offensive choice changes according to the defensive response. The focus will therefore be on building clearer, faster and more productive reads.

The Masterclass is designed for players who want to improve their ability to use the pick and roll effectively in real game situations. The goal is not simply to set a better screen or attack off the dribble, but to learn how to recognize advantages, manipulate the defense and turn every situation into a concrete, useful and dangerous offensive decision for the team.
